Current Project:I am working within the OFFWIND project. The goal of the project is to simulate the wind flow through a wind farm. My part of the project is related to controlling the turbines and the power reference to each turbine such that the optimal power output from the wind farm is obtained.

Everyting should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler.

Science is build up of facts, as a house is built of stones; but an accumulation of facts is no more science than a heap of stones is a house.
Henri Poincaré (1854-1912)

Education is what happens to the other person, not what comes out of the mouth of the educator.

2014 New Job
As of April 2014 I am in another position. This page will not be updated any more.

2013 Single turbine wake
The figure below is a simulation of the wake and pressure around a single wind turbine. The simulation was done using SOWFA. The simulation speed should correspond to a real turbine in a real world setting. Initially the blades are pitched out of the wind and after a couple of seconds it starts pitching in and rotating. The ambient wind speed is 12 m/s. The left figures show the turbine from the front and the right show slices of the wake seen from behind the turbine. The top figures show the wind speed, while the lower figures show the pressure.

2013 OFFWIND project
The goal of the project is to simulate the wind flow through a wind farm.
Our part of the project is related to controlling the turbines and the power reference to each turbine such that the optimal power output from the wind farm is obtained. Furthermore to predict the power output from the farm during the next short period around 1 hour (also known as nowcasting).

2010-2013 Vestas Turbine Control Programme
I am working as a postdoc on the Vestas Turbine Control Programme (VTCP). The programme is sponsored by Vestas Wind Systems A/S and Aalborg University. The objective of the project is to investigate various aspects of new control methods for wind turbines.

2012-
I have stopped trying to make regular updates on this list, since I just don't get it done. This, however, does not mean that the rest of this homepage is not updated.

10th August 2011
The Vestas Turbine Control Programme we are hosting a symposium in wind turbine control at November 28th and 29th. The programme for the symposium can be seen here:

It turns out that I am very bad at updating this news section. Thus, I have decided to change the name to Misc. Postings. Consequently, it will only contain information, which I just happen to feel like writing (basically as I have done previously).
August 23rd, 2009
About a week ago, I arrived at Reno in Nevada. Here, I am going to spend the next four months at UNR (University of Nevada). I will spend most of my time at the Robotics Research Lab, which is directed by Monica Nicolescu. Exactly what I am going to do is still TBD, but maybe it has something to do with robots.
June 23rd, 2009
I have now updated the description of my Ph.D work, such that it is more complete and up to date.
June 16th, 2009
Our paper Adaptive Human aware Navigation based on Motion Pattern Analysis (see it here) for RO-MAN 2009 was accepted.
